Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
Lucas County, along with representatives from Ottawa and Wood Counties in Ohio and Monroe County in Michigan came together in 2014 to create a regional comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) for the region. Combining a cross-section of stakeholders from the four counties makes this CEDS different from previous documents and addresses the needs of all those engaged regardless of borders or political jurisdictions.
Participation from private sector businesses representing health care, transportation and logistics, retail, energy, engineering, banking, manufacturing and other high-growth industries was key as was involvement from City, Township, and County officials. Representing more than simply economic development organizations, this diverse group helped craft the Northwest Ohio/Southeast Michigan Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy document that maps a pathway for development throughout the region.
