Lucas County Economic Development Corporation

The Lucas County Economic Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization dedicated to developing the economic potential of the Toledo Region by providing the best resources, planning, and expertise to industry and government.  The LCEDC was founded in 1964 as the Lucas County Improvement Corporation with the stated mission to advance, encourage and promote the industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of Lucas County and the surrounding areas. Historically, the organization accomplished this by providing economic development assistance through the processing of revenue bonds and revolving loan funds. In July 2006, the LCEDC Board initiated a partnership between economic development and workforce development entities in Lucas County. The newly combined staff and resources allowed for the prompt realization of solutions for the business, government, non-profit and education sectors served. Recognizing a need to heighten brand awareness, the organization formally changed its name to Lucas County Economic Development Corporation July 2012.

Working in partnership with businesses, governments, educational institutions, and the non-profit sector the LCEDC creates innovative solutions to the challenges of a changing global economy in the 21st Century. Governed by a Board of Directors consisting of private sector business leaders from Lucas County, the LCEDC is an operational partner with the Lucas County Department of Planning and Development which was created in 2014 by combining County workforce and economic development agencies -- working in close alliance with the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, Regional Growth Partnership, Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, University of Toledo, Owens Community College, Lucas County Board of County Commissioners, and the City of Toledo among other municipal entities in our region.
